MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to arrange and host a new meeting of the contact group on the Ukrainian crisis within hours, given all the stakeholders are interested in it, spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing, BelTA has learned.
"The amount of time we need is minimum. It is hours, not days,” said Dmitry Mironchik.
Citing the ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma TASS News Agency reported the day before that the next round of talks in the Minsk format could take place next week.
During the meeting held in Minsk on 5 September the contact group to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, which brought together representatives of Kiev, south-eastern regions of Ukraine, the OSCE and Russia, agreed on a peace plan and a ceasefire. On 20 September, the contact group on Ukraine adopted a memorandum on the ceasefire. The document consists of nine points, which include, among others, the ban on the use of all types of weapons, their withdrawal 15km away from the frontline on each side. Monitoring of the implementation of the memorandum is the responsibility of the OSCE. The document was signed by the OSCE official representative in Ukraine Heidi Tagliavini, ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Russian Ambassador to Kiev Mikhail Zurabov, DNR Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko, and head of LNR Igor Plotnitsky.
