Belarus hopes for Hong Kong crisis resolution in near future

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced Belarus’ position regarding the current protests in Hong Kong which have attracted global attention. The statement was delivered by Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus reaffirms its unchanged commitment to the one China policy and opposes foreign interference in the internal affairs of the People’s Republic of China. Belarus hopes that the situation in the special administrative region of Hong Kong will improve soon,” Anatoly Glaz said.

In June 2019, the government of Hong Kong proposed a bill regarding extradition to amend the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance and the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Ordinance. The bill sparked protests and demonstrations.
