MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus hopes for a prompt response of European partners regarding the simplification of visa procedures, Spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told a briefing on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
“We hope that European partners will soon respond to our suggestions. We also hope that the answer will be positive. Belarus has declared at the negotiations and publicly that Belarusian citizens should enjoy the same terms of getting the Schengen visa as the citizens of other partner states of the Eastern Partnership Initiative. Discrimination is unacceptable in this case,” Dmitry Mironchik said.
Belarus’ suggestions were submitted in the summer of this year. When asked about the details of the suggestions, the Spokesman noted that the Belarusian Foreign Ministry refrains from disclosing the suggestions that were discussed during the talks. “This is a normal diplomatic practice. We work at the negotiating table and do not use the so-called megaphone diplomacy,” Dmitry Mironchik said.
