Belarus government approves action plan for Year of Youth 2015

MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) - The government of Belarus approved the action plan for the Year of Youth in 2015. The Council of Ministers issued Resolution No. 1228 on 23 December 2014 which was officially posted on the national legal Internet portal on 31 December, BelTA has learned.

The plan includes more than 70 points. It lists the events dedicated to the patriotic education of young people, and promotion of a healthy lifestyle, development of mass sport and safe living skills, and support of young people in difficult circumstances.

Part of the activities will also aim to support creative activity, discover gifted and talented youth. For example, next year will see a series of national competitions, festivals, tournaments, where young people can show themselves.

Special attention will be paid to employment, support for youth entrepreneurship, formation of the talent pool, and work with young professionals. In addition, international youth cooperation will be continued.

According to the resolution, the Education Ministry will coordinate the activities under the national plan for the Year of Youth.

As was reported, on 16 October President of Belarus signed the decree declaring the year 2015 as the Year of Youth. The document was adopted in order to promote creative, scientific and professional potential of the youth, assist their active involvement in the socio-economic life of the country and promote patriotism and civic responsibility in young people.

As of early2014, there were 2.185 million young people aged between 14 and 31 in Belarus, which accounted for 23.08% of the total population.
