MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Belarus has expressed condolences over the train crash victims in Germany. The press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry of Belarus released the relevant statement, BelTA informs.
“The Republic of Belarus was shocked from the news about a rail accident that took place near the city of Bad Aibling on 9 February. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs pays its deep condolences and expresses the words of sincere support to the families of those killed in the crash, and also wishes prompt recovery to the injured passengers,” runs the statement.
The accident took place in a hard-to-get-at area in Bavaria, the south of Germany on 9 February. Two commuter trains crashed head-on, with one of them derailing. Several of its cars overturned due to the force of the impact.
According to the official data, the drivers did not see each other approaching as the collision took place in the part where tracks turn. That is why the trains did not slow down before the crash.
According to the information of the local police, at least 10 people died, including the two train drivers. About a hundred of passengers were injured.
