NEW YORK, 23 September (BelTA) – Belarus hopes to continue dialogue with the IMF on a new program, Deputy Finance Minister of Belarus Maksim Yermolovich told media in New York on 22 September, BelTA has learned.
According to him, while in the United States, the Belarusian delegation is expected to meet with Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Zhu Min. “The meeting will be focused on our cooperation with the IMF. We see big progress in the relations with IMF and I hope we will continue our dialogue on a new program with the IMF,” Maksim Yermolovich said.
In his words, there have been worked out serious amendments to the legislation regarding the financial market and financial stability. “A lot has been done within the previous IMF standby program. Belarus continues improving its investment climate,” the official said.
Maksim Yermolovich also stressed that Belarus has a deficit-free budget, keeps its gold and foreign currency reserves at the reached level and monitors the public debt and the situation in the banking sector.
