MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) - Belarus and China have agreed to develop all-round strategic partnership more actively. This is one of the outcomes of the first joint meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental committee for cooperation in Beijing, BelTA has learned.

The meeting was co-chaired by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Tozik and Meng Jianzhu, the secretary of the Central Politics and Law Commission of the Communist Party of China. The meeting was also attended by the heads of ministries and departments of Belarus and China.

The parties noted that the establishment of the committee was important for the promotion of the Belarus-China all-round strategic partnership. The meeting participants also exchanged their assessments and proposals concerning the promising areas of cooperation, signed an intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental committee for cooperation and the minutes of the first meeting of the committee.

On the same day, Anatoly Tozik met with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang. Mr Li Keqiang said that China is willing to strengthen the bilateral relations with Belarus in line with the agreements reached with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich, and also on the basis of the program for the development of comprehensive strategic partnership until 2018.

During the visit, the agreements were reached with the Chinese side to continue active monetary and financial cooperation, to develop new mechanisms of interbank cooperation, to promote the development of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park, and enhance interregional ties. The parties also discussed the steps to develop an environment conducive to joint projects, including the Geely car assembly, upgrade of roads and railways, and the joint development of heavy-duty tractors. Inter-university and cultural cooperation was also discussed. Part of the agreements will be further discussed during the visit of First Vice-Premier of the State Council of China Zhang Gaoli to Belarus.
