Belarus calls for greater inclusion of developing nations in world economy management

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – The participation of developing nations in the management of the world economy should be expanded. The relevant statement was made by the Belarusian delegation in the Second Committee of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, Igor Mishkorydnyi, a representative of the delegation, advisor of the Economic Cooperation and Sustainable Development Office of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, called upon the international community to expand the participation of developing nations in the administration of the world economy and the reformation of financial regulation mechanisms. He expressed interest in stepping up interaction between the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Bretton Woods institutions for the sake of raising the effectiveness and stability of the financial system, including the United Nations Organization.

Igor Mishkorydnyi invited interested delegations to participate in an international conference for medium-income countries that the Belarus government and the United Nations Development Organization will hold in Minsk on April 2015 to discuss topical aspects of transition to a new technological paradigm.

Apart from that, the diplomat spoke in positive terms about Belarus’ cooperation with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund for developing the national financial system.

Besides, it was noted that preparing for the third international conference on financing development that will take place in Addis Ababa in 2015 is a priority for UN member states. The inadmissibility of using unilateral financial and trade sanctions against UN member states, including Belarus, to the detriment of their acquisition of sustainable development, was noted.
