Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina mull setting up intergovernmental commission

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) - Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina are discussing the possibility of setting up a bilateral intergovernmental commission responsible for coordinating cooperation in economy and trade. The matter was discussed at the meeting of Alexander Khainovsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Bosnia and Herzegovina on concurrent, with Chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidium Zeljko Komsic. The officials held a meeting after Alexander Khainovsky presented credentials to Zeljko Komsic on 7 March, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The sides discussed the current state of bilateral relations and ways to consolidate them. They pointed out that priorities for the near future include the development of trade and economic cooperation, political dialogue, including cooperation in international and regional organizations, facilitation of human contacts, tourism exchange and the creation of an up-to-date legal framework of bilateral relations.

On 7 March Alexander Khainovsky also held a number of meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and met with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to that country.

Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina established diplomatic relations in 1993. In 2013 their bilateral trade made up $10 million, Belarus’ export accounting for the majority of this trade volume.
