MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Belarus speaks for the need of maximum visa liberalization in the area of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 15 May, BelTA has learned.

In his words, Vienna will host the ODIHR roundtable on cross-border mobility and visa liberalization on 15-16 May. Head of the Main Consular Department of the Foreign Ministry Igor Fisenko will represent Belarus at the roundtable.

According to Dmitry Mironchik, the major goal of the event is to present the ODIHR conclusions and recommendations in pursuance of the decisions of the states participating in the cross-border mobility research and study the opportunities for the cooperation of the OSCE member states in the issues pertaining to the promotion of cross-border contacts and liberalization of visa regimes. “Viewing the freedom of movement as one of the fundamental freedoms, the OSCE pivotal component of human dimension, Belarus speaks in favor of the need to maximally liberate the visa regime in the OSCE.
