MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – The prospects of designing a Union State tractor are viable, Russia’s Ambassador Alexander Surikov told a press conference in Minsk on 7 February, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador explained that he means concerted efforts of the Minsk tractor and engine plants and Russian producers of similar equipment to work together on third-country markets. “I think the theme of the Union State tractor will be moving up on the agenda. The Minsk tractor and engine plants and Russian producers of similar equipment should reach an understanding regarding the uniform models for all markets, the Eurasian one first of all, and the competitive models for third markets,” the diplomat said.

In general, work continues on the integration projects between Russia and Belarus, the diplomat said. “We continue working, albeit not very hastily, over the automotive programs. The MAZ-KamAZ projects might have not worked out but there are other formats. We need to look for opportunities. Perhaps KamAZ will team up with GAZ, MAZ with LiAZ,” Ambassador Alexander Surikov noted.

“There is progress. We just need to accelerate it. We continue working on military and technical integration. The Grodno Azot project is also making headway,” he said.

The Likino Bus Plant (LiAZ trademark) is one of the largest manufacturers of buses large and extra large class in Russia. Located in the city of Likino-Dulyovo, Moscow District, the plant has been producing buses since 1959. In 2005, the plant joined the GAZ Group.
