More effort to promote Belarusian safety products onto foreign markets

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Kalinin is in favor of promoting Belarusian safety products onto foreign markets. The relevant ideas were discussed at the session of the council in charge of coordinating the government R&D program “Safety, prevention, and alleviation of emergencies” at premises of the Emergencies Ministry, the Belarus government press service told BelTA.

According to the source, in his speech Anatoly Kalinin noted that in 2015 public sector customers should put efforts into further raising the practical demand for results of R&D efforts and should promote them onto foreign markets. It is also necessary to put together new government programs on R&D efforts in the area of national security in 2016-2020.

The session reviewed results achieved in 2014. In particular, 62 tasks were fulfilled, 25 new machines were created, and seven new and high technologies were created.

In particular, samples of fire-fighting equipment and special protective wear were created in addition to developmental prototypes of heavy-duty fire trucks able to store 11m3 and 12m3 of water based on the MAZ 6317 chassis with the 6x6 wheel formula. An emergency and rescue truck based on a 4x4 MAZ chassis has been created. A temperature transducer for testing construction components has been developed.

Judging by results of preliminary testing the new development prototype of a long-range fire-fighting monitor can beat foreign competition (Protek) at half the price.

Preliminary testing of development prototypes of an unmanned aerial vehicle designed to provide video surveillance with the effective range of 50km to 290km has been completed.

It was also noted during the session that software had been developed to model the impact of explosive processes on infrastructure in the immediate vicinity.

According to the source, some of the R&D products have a good export potential. For instance, the Physics Technology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has supplied Belarusian unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia, Vietnam, and Turkmenistan.
