MOGILEV, 3 November (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast and Poland’s Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship intend to step up economic cooperation. The intention was mentioned during the meeting of Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky and Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship Marshal Piotr Calbecki in Mogilev on 3 November, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladimir Domanevsky, the regions have a good record of working together. Unfortunately, the intensity of trade and economic relations declined recently. At the same time the potential for advancing and deepening interaction in economic affairs is huge. “We need to make the transition from trade relations to tighter manufacturing cooperation of our companies and the establishment of joint ventures for the sake of making competitive products and selling them to third countries,” believes the Mogilev Oblast Governor. “We should fill our cooperation program with serious content, concrete projects and get down to implementing them. So far there are six companies with Polish capital in Mogilev Oblast but we are ready to do everything necessary to considerably raise the number.”

Piotr Calbecki confirmed interest of the Polish side in taking interregional cooperation to the next level. He also confirmed that Mogilev Oblast remains a strategic partner for Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. He suggested arranging a joint meeting of representatives of business circles in Torun, Poland in spring 2017. “We are convinced that the meeting will be productive for both sides and will give a new impulse to mutually beneficial cooperation between the two regions. Mogilev Oblast is kind of a gateway for us to new target markets just like for Mogilev Oblast we are a gateway for sales to other countries of the European Union. It is necessary to open the gateways wider,” believes the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship Marshal.

The sides expressed interest in implementing a number of joint projects involving the manufacturing and processing of agricultural products, production of medications, perfumery, and other products. The sides also expressed interest in advancing cooperation in education, science, and culture.

The Polish delegation is expected to take part in the eighth international investment forum Mill of Success in Mogilev on 4-5 November.
