ORSHA, 30 November (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave an instruction to conduct an experiment in Belarusian regions to compare the productivity of different flax varieties, BelTA informs.
A proposal to import pedigree seeds and try to grow them in different regions depending on Belarusian environmental conditions was voiced at the session in Orsha. Alexander Lukashenko responded that Director of the Flax Institute Ivan Golub had recently said that Belarusian flax varieties were the best. “We have already done the research. Our varieties are better than western ones,” the director of the institute said. “The lack of seeds is a different story. This stage is behind.”
In this regard, Alexander Lukashenko instructed the governors to conduct an experiment. He told them to plant imported varieties together with Belarusian ones in a field in every oblast to compare the productivity of these seeds.
The president explained that governors are neutral people unlike scientists. “You should know what is better,” he said.
