Construction of Belarusian nuclear power plant stays on schedule

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – The construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant stays on schedule, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Vadim Zakrevsky on 20 December.

According to the Deputy Energy Minister, all the operations to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant precisely follow the relevant flow chart.

Plans have been made to build a machine hall at the construction site near Ostrovets in 2017. Turbine equipment will be installed as well as auxiliary equipment in the turbine hall. Work in the reactor hall will continue.

Asked about the availability of human resources, Vadim Zakrevsky noted there are no problems with finding the specialists the project requires. “We have no questions with the personnel currently employed to match the work volume specified by the flow chart,” he added.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build a VVER-1200 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The BelNPP will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW).
