Belarus ready to supply elevators, vehicles to Russia’s Kostroma Oblast

MOSCOW, 2 June (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to supply passenger elevators, road building, construction and municipal vehicles and equipment to Russia’s Kostroma Oblast and increase dairy, meat and vegetable exports to the region. The matter was discussed during a meeting between a Belarusian delegation led by Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich and Kostroma Oblast authorities, BelTA learned from the press service of the Kostroma Oblast Governor.

“We are very interested in strengthening our trade and economic cooperation. Today it is insufficient to sell this or that product. It is very important to develop a system of relations through the establishment of joint ventures and implementation of specific long-term projects. By joining our efforts, we will achieve great results, including in external markets,” Lilia Ananich said.

Kostroma Oblast Deputy Governor Alexei Smirnov pointed out that it is necessary to identify cooperation areas that are the most promising in terms of export growth and joint projects. “We need to find points of contact. We have achieved a fairly high level of cooperation. However, we would like to boost our exports to Belarus. We seek to increase our supplies of timber products to Belarus, in particular wood fiber board and chipboard which are in great demand there,” Alexei Smirnov said.

Kostroma Oblast representatives pointed out that there is plenty of unused agricultural land in the region. The administration is ready to give land lots to Belarusian investors, including for the implementation of joint projects.

“All the proposals voiced at the meeting will be considered during the preparation of an agreement and an action plan to develop trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between Kostroma Oblast and Belarus,” the press service said.
