MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Belarus will work out a system to promote Geely car sales on the domestic market, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said in an interview to the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
The designed capacity of the BelGee car factory near Borisov is estimated at 60,000 vehicles a year. The plant can reach the designed production volume next year, and increase the annual output to 120,000 in the future, the prime minister said. In line with the business plan, 90% of the cars will be exported, the rest will be sold in Belarus.
“As for the domestic market, there is an instruction, and the government and, in particular, the industry minister with his counterparts are working on it, to develop a program to support the purchase of domestic cars by the people of Belarus. I think that we will be able to offer such a product by the end of the year,” said Andrei Kobyakov.
The prime minister also shared his impressions about the recent visit to a new plant and the Geely car, which he tested. “I liked it,” the head of government said.
