Patriarch Kirill’ visit to Belarus
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill visited Belarus on 14 October 2012. This has been the second visit of His Holiness to Belarus since his enthronement as the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church. The distinguished guest arrived to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Kruptsy Icon of Mother of God at the invitation of Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus on the Day of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. Patriarch Kirill was welcomed near the Church of All Saints, where the primate inaugurated the memorial to Patriarch Alexy II. His Holiness talked to believers and said the prayer commemorating innocent victims. After that Patriarch Kirill met with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The head of state awarded Patriarch Kirill with the Order of Friendship for his considerable contribution to the Union State development, strengthening of friendly relations and the unity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia.
