Kupala Night in Belarus
This year, the Kupala Night festival in Shklov District on 6 July was attended by about 50,000 people.
Traditionally the Kupala Night rituals were performed on the banks of the Dnieper River, which from time immemorial has been the cradle of culture of many Slavic peoples. The Dnieper has always been the communication link between the Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians, and remains so today.
The festival offered a big cultural program. One of the highlights was the fair Town of Artisans on the banks of the Dnieper.
The exposition was arranged in a form of a Kupala Night character - the Sun which rays formed the streets of artisans and the streets of celebrations.
Guests and participants of the festival could take a stroll along the streets of weaving, straw making, pottery, embroidery, Belarusian rites and others. Video
