The Belarusian team was defeated by Russia in the shoot-out series (2-3) at the 7th Christmas international amateur ice hockey tournament for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus on 7 January. It is the second time in the seven-year history of the tournament when the Belarusian team failed to win the major trophy of the tournament. Belarus’ Stepan Ponomarev scored twice for Belarus. Russia owes its victory to Andrei Kovalenko and Valery Kamensky.
