Mohammed: UN secretary general was envious of my visit to Belarus

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres wanted to visit Belarus personally but could not come due to his tight schedule. UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed made the statement as she met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 21 February, BelTA has learned.

Amina Mohammed said: “I would like to convey to you the best regards from your friend — UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. He has told me a lot about your personal contacts and was quite envious of my going to Belarus while he was unable to do the same.”

Alexander Lukashenko also asked to convey the most sincere and kindest wishes to the UN secretary general. “I will be glad to meet with him once his and my schedules permit it. He is a very kind, warmhearted, and cordial person,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
