Kobyakov: Belarus constantly seeks new opportunities for economic growth

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Belarus is always on the lookout for new opportunities for economic growth and for new partners. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement as he met with honorary consuls of Belarus in the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 5 October, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov stressed that Belarus continues expanding cooperation with leading distant-arc countries on all the continents.

According to the prime minister, Belarus has already started implementing a new strategy to ensure balanced diversification of foreign trade. “While diversifying export, we will try to avoid damaging our positions on traditional markets,” said Andrei Kobyakov. The prime minister pointed out that the knowledge, business skills and experience of the honorary consuls can play a special role in tackling the tasks the country faces.

“As we work hard to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and manufacturing cooperation, we need people on the same page and reliable partners particularly on new markets, in distant-arc countries. If you have a promising idea or a project, if you see new opportunities for exporting Belarusian products and services, attracting foreign investments into the Belarusian economy or advancing manufacturing cooperation with major foreign companies, I guarantee you will get the highest praise and support from the government,” concluded Andrei Kobyakov.

It was the first meeting of the kind. It is the key component of the program of the first conference of Belarus’ honorary consuls, which is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 3-6 October. The event clearly demonstrates the attention the Belarusian government pays to efforts to expand Belarus’ presence abroad using various mechanisms, including the honorary consuls institution.

A number of top-ranking officials of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Ministers Office took part in the meeting, too. Participants of the meeting discussed results achieved by the honorary consuls, prospects of their work in promoting Belarus’ national interests abroad while focusing on expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Belarus and foreign partners.
