Survey: Belarus named closest friend and ally of Russia

MOSCOW, 14 June (BelTA) - The Russians named Belarus closest friend and ally of Russia, according to the survey conducted by sociologists at the Levada Center, BelTA has learned.

According to the survey, 49% of the polled named Belarus the closest friend and ally of Russia. The top five friendly countries also includes China (40%), Kazakhstan (32%), Syria (21%) and India (19%).

Some 78% of respondents named the USA as having the most unfriendly and hostile attitude towards Russia. It is followed by Ukraine (49%), the United Kingdom (38%), Latvia (26%) and Poland (24%).

The survey took place between 24 and 30 May 2018 and was conducted throughout all of Russia in both urban and rural settings. The survey was carried out among 1600 people over the age of 18 in 136 localities of 52 of the country’s regions.
