Polotsk State University to offer advanced Chinese economy courses

VITEBSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Advanced courses to study the Chinese economy will be made available to students of the Polotsk State University, BelTA learned from Inga Zenkova, Head of the Economy, Management, and Economic Theory Chair, head of the university’s Chinese language and culture center, during the center’s opening ceremony on 10 November.

The courses will become available within two years. Belarus-China relations advance fast, said Inga Zenkova. A lot of joint projects in the sphere of culture and education get implemented. Economic contacts grow stronger as well as the interest of Belarusians in studying the Chinese language. According to the official, the graduates will be in demand thanks to their skills in the sphere of business communication with the world and the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

According to Inga Zenkova, Chinese language studies and an introduction to the Chinese culture will allow partnering universities to open departments offering advanced Chinese language studies in Belarus. Education in China will be an option. Master’s degree courses will become available in both countries.

The Chinese language and culture center was opened at the Polotsk State University as a result of the agreement signed by the Polotsk State University and the Belarusian National Technical University, where the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology operates, in April 2017.
