VITEBSK, 10 July (BelTA) - A star with Nadezhda Babkina’s name has been unveiled on the alley of the winners of the special presidential award “Through Art to Peace and Understanding” (the Walk of Fame) in Vitebsk, BelTA has learnt.

Belarusian Culture Minister Boris Svetlov, Director of the International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk Alexander Sidorenko, Chairman of Vitebsk City Hall Viktor Nikolaikin, People’s Artist of Belarus Anatoly Yarmolenko took part in the event.

A ceremony to present the award “Through Art to Peace and Understanding” will take place on 10 July during a gala concert to open the festival.

Earlier the award was presented to Edita Piekha, Lev Leshchenko, Alla Pugacheva, Sofia Rotaru, Alexandra Pakhmutova, Valery Leontyev, the Pesnyary band, Igor Luchenok. The first award was bestowed upon Russian composer Andrei Petrov in 2005. Since 2009 the names of the award recipients have been immortalized on the Walk of Fame.
