Minsk Metro gets Golden Chariot Award

MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) – The Minsk metro system operator has received the Golden Chariot award as the best mass transit company, BelTA learned from Andrei Kuzmin, press secretary of the Minsk metro system operating company.

Minsk Metro is the first Belarusian company to win the award. The certificate and the statuette looking like three golden horses hauling a chariot were bestowed upon Minsk Metro head Rostislav Yurenya during the award ceremony in Moscow.

The award has been presented on the basis of recommendations of the International Metro Association and in view of Minsk metro’s forthcoming 30th anniversary. The organizing committee said that the recognition by the international transport community symbolizes the high evaluation of the entire personnel’s contribution to the dynamic development of the Minsk metro system.

The international contest was instituted by the Russian Energy Ministry and the Transport Ministry in 2005. It unites the world’s best transportation companies from 36 countries. The Golden Chariot Award has become something like an internationally recognized Oscar Award for the transportation industry.
