Great Patriotic War Museum in Minsk to open 2 July

The new building of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic WarMINSK, 30 June (BelTA) - The official opening ceremony of the new building of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War will be held in Minsk on 2 July. Yet the museum will open to the general public on 3 July, BelTA learned from the museum.

The new building is more than 3,000 square meters big. It has ten exhibition halls and more than 8,000 exhibits telling about how the things were in the run-up to the Great Patriotic War, during the war and after the victory. The museum will provide more than 20 basic services: general and thematic tours, individual consultations on the topic of the Great Patriotic War, access to the museum materials. The museum premises might also be used for shooting movies and filming shooting scenes using WWII weapons. In addition, the halls are equipped with the QR code for one of the subsystems of audio guides and for access to additional information about the exhibits.

The new building of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic WarThe decision to set up the museum of the history of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk was taken in 1943. On 22 July 1944 it opened its doors to the public. The museum was headquartered in Oktiabrskaya Square since 1966. The construction of the new building near the Minsk-Hero City Stele on Pobeditelei Avenue began in April 2010.The new building of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War
