East-West Chamber Orchestra to perform twice at Yuri Bashmet Festival in Minsk

The East-West Chamber OrchestraMINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – The East-West Chamber Orchestra will give two performances at the 12th Yuri Bashmet International Festival in Minsk, BelTA learned from the art director of the festival, famous Belarusian pianist Rostislav Krimer.

Performances of the East-West Chamber Orchestra directed by Rostislav Krimer are always a sold-out. This year classical music connoisseurs will be able to attend its concerts twice. The performance "From Bach to Piazzola. Gala concert of soloists" will take place in the Big Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic on 4 October.

The Yuri Bashmet international festival gives art lovers a chance to meet with the best world performers, Rostislav Krimer said. Three soloists will take the stage together with the East-West Chamber Orchestra. One of them is 29 -year-old accordionist Ksenia Sidorova. Dubbed as "the queen of accordion", teh artist will get the whole part of the concert. The alumna of the Royal Academy of Music in London performs in the best halls and has an extensive repertoire from Bach and Scarlatti to the ultramodern avant-garde. Together with East-West Chamber Orchestra the artist will perform different hits including tango by Astor Piazzolla in Minsk.

The second concert of East-West Chamber Orchestra at the Yuri Bashmet Festival will take place on 8 October. The soloist of the program Legends on Stradivarius Violin is the outstanding violinist Julian Rachlin.

The international chamber orchestra East-West Chamber Orchestra includes the best soloists from the Eastern and Western Europe, winners of the most prestigious international contests, concertmasters of the famous orchestras and famous soloists many of whom play unique musical instruments.

The grand opening of the 12th Yuri Bashmet International Festival will take place in the Big Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic on 27 September. The opening concert will see performances of the worldwide famous State Symphony Orchestra Novaya Rossiya directed by People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia Yuri Bashmet.

The Yuri Bashmet International festival has been held in Minsk annually since 2006. It is one of the most important festivals in the cultural landscape of Belarus.
