MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) - The photographs of the most beautiful Belarusian sites are on display in the center of Minsk. The open-air exhibition Belarusian Heritage opened in Chelyuskintsev Park on 3 May, BelTA learnt from coordinator of the project Anna Bobukh.

The exhibition features reproductions from the photo albums by journalists Alexander Alekseyev and Oleg Lukashevich. The best photographs have been enlarged and placed on the fence of the central park. The exposition features over 50 works depicting the architectural heritage of Belarus: the Kamenets Tower, the Kalozha Church, the Rumyantsevs-Paskevichs Palace, the Savior and St. Euphrosyne Monastery, etc.

The exhibition is open to public 24 hours a day. It presents Belarus’ millenary history, traditions, and treasures of decorative and applies arts.

The project was initiated in 2003. When the Belarusian Heritage photo albums hit the book shelves they became bestsellers among similar products. In 2004-2014 some 42,500 albums were sold, which is a record number for the Belarusian book publishing industry.

The photo albums got a number of prizes for their artistic quality. In 2005 the authors of the project were awarded the prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus “For Spiritual Revival”.

The exhibition is co-located with the IIHF 2014 World Championship. Its organizers believe that the open-air exposition will help create a recognizable image of Minsk.

The exposition has been organized by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Minsk City Hall, and the art center of Olga and Andrei Smolyak. It will stay open till November.
