MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) - Belarus plans to implement new publishing projects with the participants of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which is running in Frankfurt on 10-14 October, BelTA learned from Belarus’ Information Ministry.

For example, China showed an interest in the participation of Minsk as a special guest at the Beijing International Book Fair. Russia’s Federal Agency for Press and Mass Media, along with the agreement on the participation of Belarus as an honorary guest at the Moscow International Book Fair 2019, suggested a joint project to publish books of Belarusian authors and organize joint events with the agency’s financing.

The Polish publisher Learnetic made an interesting proposal. The parties agreed to work on a pilot project "Foreign Language" and present it at the Minsk International Book Fair. The project suggests promoting the use of European experience in the Belarusian education system. Poland, in the person of Grzegorz Guzowski, CEO of Ars Polonia, offered to support the promotion of books by Belarusian authors on the European market. Ukrainian colleagues suggested publishing a catalog of Belarusian books to promote books in the Russian language in the Ukrainian market. Latvia expressed a similar interest. They invited Belarus to attend the Latvian Book Fair 2019 in Riga an dpromised to arrange meetings with interested publishers.

The reason for the dialogue on cooperation between Belarus and Armenia was the book "The Other Side of the Earth" (2008-2009) by Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Representatives of Armenia expressed interest in the presentation of this book and the novelties of the Armenian book publishing industry at the Minsk International Book Fair.

Belarus’ Deputy Information Minister Igor Buzovsky noted that the Belarusian book stand attracted many private publishing houses, entrepreneurs, and Belarusians living in Germany. "According to the unanimous opinion of visitors, our country can be proud of its literary achievements, illustrators, book designers, and cartoonists. The idea of arranging stands featuring the 2018 best works of illustrators and photo artists and cartoonists can become a reality at the next international book expo in Belarus", Igor Buzovsky said.
