Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov is heading the national delegation at the meetings within the 15th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement that are taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, during 13–16 July 2009.
On 13–14 July, the Foreign Minister is taking part in the Summit ministerial segment featuring an interactive discussion over international solidarity for peace and development, and current financial and economic crisis, as well as negotiation on the final document.
The draft final document includes suggestions made by Belarus that are based on our priorities in the United Nations, including encouragement of the Global Partnership Against Slavery and Trafficking in Human Beings and the adoption of a global plan of action on fighting human trafficking, fostering an effective international mechanism on ensuring access of all countries to new and renewable energy resources technologies, effective realization of the universal periodic review of the UN Human Rights Council, continuation of support of the middle-income countries.
Sergei Martynov is expected to hold meetings with Foreign Ministers of NAM Member Countries to discuss issues of mutual interest.
