MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation led by permanent representative of the Republic of Belarus in international organizations in Vienna Valery Voronetsky is taking part in the 21st meeting of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) which is taking place in Vienna on 23-27 April, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
The commission is considering the issues of strategic operations management of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, implementation of the UN convention against transnational organized crime and its protocols, as well as world trends and new challenges in prevention of crime and criminal justice. The meeting will include debates on violence in relation to migrants, migrant workers and their families.
The fight against human trafficking is topping the agenda of the meeting. The head of the Belarusian delegation presented a report on the issue on behalf of the Group of Friends united to combat human beings traffic. He emphasized the need to intensify coordination of efforts in fighting against human trafficking including through the implementation of the UN Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking and support of the Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking.
