Artis 2016 Grand Prix goes to children’s theater company from Grodno

GRODNO, 8 December (BelTA) – The children’s theater company Grodno Bell received the Grand Prix of a prestigious international competition, theater’s art director Tatyana Strizhak told BelTA.

The results of the international award for creative kids and youth Artis 2016 were reviewed at the Music Hall State Theater (St. Petersburg). The Grand Prix in the Theater Creativity nomination went to the children’s theater company from Grodno with their fantasy Buzzy-Wuzzy Busy Fly.

“It is one of the most prestigious children’s awards. This is an important victory not only for the company or the city, but also for the country in general, since we were the only representatives of Belarus to be awarded in St. Petersburg,” Tatyana Strizhak said. She emphasized that partaking in the final events were 13 theaters, with over 400 children’s theater companies from Russia and other CIS countries competing for the trip. One of the most important conditions for winning an award is victories at competitions with the official All-Russian or international status.

“We travel a lot. Last year, for instance, we gave 67 performances, winning some of the festivals in Russia and Poland,” Tatyana Strizhak added. There are about 30 actors aged 8-12 in the theater. There is also a theater studio for children aged between 6 and 7.

The Belarusian amateur children’s theater company Grodno Bell began operating at kindergarten No.76 in 1996. In 1998 the company started working under the Grodno Cultural Club and then made part of the Grodno Cultural Center in 2012. The theater offers acting, choreography and signing courses. The company's repertoire includes more than 10 productions.
