Tractor biathlon in Smorgon District: Frosty weather, tough race

MTZ Holding Company arranged a spectacular tractor biathlon competition near a geological monument in Smorgon District on 24 February to pay tribute to Team Belarus at the PyeongChang Olympics. The event saw extreme racing, target shooting, obstacle courses, and penalty loops with biting winds and bitter temperatures.

The fascinating race featured a total of 15 people (5 teams) behind the wheels of the compact Belarus-132H and Belarus-152 tractors made by Smorgon Assembly Plant. The conditions were very similar to those at the Olympics, except the participants changed skis for small tractors and biathlon rifles for paintball guns.

Despite the weather being a challenge, the tournament brought together several thousand spectators who watched the exciting racing, precise shooting, and penalty loops for missed targets, just like in real biathlon. After the competition, the guests warmed up with hot drinks with sweet treats and watched a show presented by MTZ featuring the tractors Belarus-132H, Belarus-152, and Belarus-1402.
