The Belovezhskaya Pushcha is among the biggest woodlands of the European Plain that has remained practically intact. It straddles the border between Belarus and Poland. On the Polish side the forest is protected by the Bialowieza National Park that spreads across 10,502 hectares. Belarus has established the National Park Belovezhskaya Pushcha covering 152,965 hectares. This land is the property of the government and is meant for environmental purposes.
