Stephen Bathory commemorated in Grodno

The Belarusian city of Grodno hosted events to mark the 430th anniversary of the death of Stephen Bathory on 3 and 4 December.

Stephen Bathory, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, died in Grodno on 12 December 1586. A Hungarian by birth, he was in love with Grodno and was spending there more time than in Krakow or Vilnius.
