Snowy Autumn 2016 in Belarus

Snowy Autumn 2016 in Belarus
10 Nov 2016

Streets covered in snow and people wrapped in overcoats and warm scarves, snowflakes floating in the air together with falling leaves, and mesmerizing landscapes of bright autumn colors sprinkled with white snow... This year’s autumn has brought some surprises. Already in late October, the nice sunny weather changed into frosts and snowstorms. Storm Gisi from Scandinavia brought unprecedented snowfalls to Belarus. The city of Vitebsk broke its November snow-cover record set 70 years ago. In 1947, meteorologists recorded 11 centimeters of snow cover. The new record is 16 centimeters. In some parts of the northernmost region of Belarus, the cover was as high as 26 centimeters!

Even though the early snowfall caused inconveniences to drivers, road and utility services, Belarusians were glad to feel the breath of the most magical season of the year a month before its official beginning.

Please enjoy some wonderful photographs made in different parts of Belarus during the snowy autumn of 2016
