Palm Sunday in Belarus

On 9 April Belarusian believers celebrated the Entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem, or Willow (Palm) Sunday, the last one before the Holy Week. By a tradition, this day starts with a religious procession and divine liturgies in churches. Church-goers have their willows blessed. Willows symbolize palm branches which were used to cover the road for Jesus Christ some 2,000 years ago... In a week, on 16 April, Orthodox and Catholic Christians all over the world will unite in the celebration of the main holiday on the religious calendar, Easter.
