Museum exposition opens in Kossovo Palace

A temporary museum exhibition was officially opened at Kossovo Palace today. The ‘gem’ of the 19th century Belarusian architecture, a unique example of neo-Gothic style, romantically dubbed as Knight's Dream, Kossovo Palace has been under renovations since 2008. The renovation project is far off from being complete but now visitors have an opportunity to learn more about the history of the palace and to see how the palace is gradually getting back to its former glory.

The exposition spans five halls. The first hall shows the materials about Kossovo and its surroundings. The second one tells about the life and work of the Puslovsky family. The exposition also displays the artifacts found during the archaeological excavations ahead of the launch of the restoration project. One of the halls is intended for art exhibitions. The first exhibited paintings are owned by local artist Anatoly Galushko. The fifth hall will narrate about the restoration of the Palace of Kossovo.

The palace of the Puslovskys has a great tourism potential, believes Vasily Chernik, the head of the main directorate of culture and analysis at the Culture Ministry. Nearby is Tadeusz Kosciuszko’s estate and the Sapieha palace and park in Ruzhany. With the opening of the temporary museum exhibition, the number of those who would want to travel to Ivatsevichi District to visit the 19th century palace should increase significantly. "We need to consider supplementing the temporary expositions with the exhibits from other museums. The Culture Ministry will request the castles in Mir and Nesvizh and other country’s major museums to loan some items to the Palace of Kossovo," Vasily Chernik said.
