Minsk Through Eyes of Artists in National Art Museum of Belarus

Minsk Through Eyes of Artists in National Art Museum of Belarus
27 Jan 2017

Urban landscapes in unusual colors and from unexpected angles, famous avenues and cozy streets of the old parts of Minsk, the architectural gems and districts which were built in the 20th century, with shaded parks and lanes, the banks of the Svisloch River, metro stations and, of course, the people who make the city burst with life…

This is the way Minsk will be depicted in famous paintings by Belarusian artists in the year of its 950th anniversary which is celebrated in 2017. Minsk Through Eyes of Artists, a joint project by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Belarusian Trade Ministry and the Minsk City Hall, was presented in the National Art Museum of Belarus on 27 January.

The organizers said that the exhibition of the paintings dedicated to the 20th-century Minsk, gave a start to a large cultural program to mark the 950th anniversary of the Belarusian capital city in 2017. By September, when the main celebrations are scheduled, art from the museum exhibition halls will spill into the streets. An open-air exposition will include art reproductions by eminent artists from the holdings of the National Art Museum, many of which are not showcased in the current exposition!
