Gomel Circus Turns 45!

Gomel Circus Turns 45!
2 Dec 2017

Unusual, out of this world, attracting young and adult spectators alike at any time of the year — the Gomel State Circus celebrates its 45th anniversary! One of the key cultural attractions in the city upon Sozh and Belarus’ only regional circus arena invited guests for a jubilee evening on 2 December in honor of the first performance, which took place in the new building with a futuristic silhouette exactly 45 years ago — in 1972.

The circus director — Honored Worker of Culture of Belarus Yakov Lobovich — can quote some impressive figures: over the course of 45 years the Gomel circus has demonstrated 238 shows and over 15 million spectators have attended some 10,000 performances. Internationally recognized circus stars started their careers under the dome of the Gomel circus, too…

In the jubilee evening the circus surprised its fans by staging Review Circus and Bear Show, which featured trapeze artists, acrobats, jugglers, equilibrists, and bicycle acrobats… The names on the bill included the famous tamer, People’s Artist of Russia Grant Ibragimov and a laureate of the Monte Carlo Circus Festival, the clown duo led by Honored Artist of Russia Sergei Prosvirin.

Amazing numbers, gifts, and certainly applause and smiles of the spectators are in our report from the Gomel circus.
