Fire Service Day Celebrations in Minsk

Fire Service Day Celebrations in Minsk
23 Jul 2016

A solemn procession of rescue workers and vehicles of the Emergencies Ministry took place along Nezavisimosti Avenue on 23 July in anticipation of the celebration of the Day of the Fire-Fighting Service of Belarus, which history is over 160 years long. Taking part in the parade were representatives of all the oblast divisions of the Emergencies Ministry, veterans of the fire-fighting service and — for the first time — aerial units of the Emergencies Ministry.

Flag-bearing groups of the Emergencies Ministry Institute enjoyed the honor of opening the parade. The parade column included wind bands of the fire-fighting service and fire engines — all in all, about 30 vehicles, the oldest of which rolled off the conveyor line in 1938. Spectators were also able to see antique fire-fighting hardware such as a horse-drawn fire engine.

After the parade the celebrations moved on to the Gorky Park in Minsk where the public could see a concert of the guard of honor squad, a demonstration of floating hardware of the Emergencies Ministry, and a concert by wind orchestras. Apart from that, adults and children were able to lay their hands on modern hardware and personal gear of Belarusian fire-fighters, which the rescue workers use every day in their line of duty.
