91 cities, 51 countries, different continents - the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour is well underway in the build-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Minsk was also on its route. The tournament’s most coveted prize arrived in Minsk from Vienna and will next be displayed in Sofia.

The first to see the FIFA World Cup trophy were the guests of the Palace of Independence: young Belarusian footballers, coaches, representatives of the football community, Olympic medalists and sports functionaries. Taking part in the event were also Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and FIFA representative Lucas Rachow, who gave the Belarusian president a mini version of the FIFA World Cup trophy as a present. The replica will be permanently exhibited at the Palace of Independence. After the official ceremony the FIFA World Cup trophy was on display at the Falcon Club. The event included a fan zone with an opportunity to take a picture with the 2018 FIFA World Cup mascot Zabivaka.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour was launched in London on 22 January. The final stage of the journey will include the cities of Russia, the host of the sports forum in 2018. The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in 11 Russian cities from 14 June to 15 July.
