Ethnic fashion: around 200 traditional Belarusian costumes on the catwalk in Brest

The ethnic costume is one of the main elements of the culture of the Belarusians. They say the language and traditional dress are the two major things that define an ethnic identity. Brest Oblast, like no other region of Belarus, has preserved a great variety of traditional costumes. Within the framework of the Regional Mother Tongue Day, the Brest regional social and cultural center held an ethnographic concert-show “Domestic textile as a fashionable style”. Visitors had a unique opportunity to see what their ancestors wore in the first half of the 20th century. The ethnographic fashion show featured representatives of 15 districts who showed about two hundreds of unique traditional costumes.
