Catholics of Belarus celebrate Easter
1 Apr 2018

The Catholics of Belarus marked Easter Sunday, one of the most important holidays on the Christian calendar, on 1 April. The good news of Easter is in salvation and hope for eternal life.

Church services started on Holy Saturday, 31 March. Catholic churches hosted the symbolic lighting of the Easter candle, the sacred song singing, the reading of 12 prophecies, and the blessing of water and Easter food. Easter cakes and eggs were blessed by Archbishop Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz at the Red Church in the Belarusian capital. The all-night vigil held at the Catholic churches throughout the country was attended by thousands of believers.

Catholic Easter 2018: beautiful traditions, heartfelt prayers and the all-night vigil in our photo story.
