Vitebsk to host Slavonic Bazaar festival on 9-13 July

VITEBSK, 18 March (BelTA) – The 24th International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk will take place on 9-13 July (other events are scheduled for 7-8 July and 14-15 July), head of the directorate of the International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk, director of the Vitebsk Center of Culture Alexander Sidorenko told a press conference on 18 March, BelTA has learned.

The central event of the festival will be the Vitebsk 2015 Pop Song Contest. The festival will also include the children’s song contest. This year Belarus, Ukraine and Russia will have one entry each. Previously these countries were represented by two singers. The jury of the children’s song contest will be led by Russian singer and composer, People’s Artist of Russia Dmitry Malikov.

The main topics of the festival will highlight major events of the year 2015 for Belarus, namely the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of Youth.

Signature style for the 24th edition of the international art festival Slavonic Bazaar in VitebskThe festival’s program includes concerts of pop singers and stand-up comedians, participants of the Stars of Shanson TV project, the program Song will Always Be with You featuring the National Academic Orchestra of Belarus led by Mikhail Finberg, concerts and entertainment programs for the youth (Golden Hit: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow; Rock Panorama, projects of the BRSM Youth Union held within the framework of the Youth Day, etc.), the Theater Meetings project (Belarus, Latvia, Russia) and the Festival without Borders project.

The exhibition program of the forum will feature various projects, including an exhibition of Indian arts and crafts.

In 2015 Vitebsk will host the international conference Festival Movement. Traditions and Innovations to enhance cooperation with the organizers of festivals in other countries. Vitebsk will also host the session of the World Association of Festivals (WAF). The association will institute a special prize for one of the participants of the International Pop Song Contest in Vitebsk.
