MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – Athletes from 13 countries will gather at the Belagroprombank international artistic gymnastics tournament to compete for the prizes of six-time Olympic champion Vitaly Shcherbo. The statement was made during a press conference in the Sports and Tourism Ministry on 8 September, BelTA informs.
The competition will take place in the Minsk Palace of Sports on 9-11 September. Partaking in them will be gymnasts from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Sweden, France, Canada, Uzbekistan and Israel.
The Belarusian national men’s team will include such outstanding athletes as Dmitry Kasperovich, Dmitry Savitsky and Alexander Tsarevich. Among the young gymnasts who are to take part in the tournament will be Pavel Bulavsky, Artem Bykov, Alexander Pristavko, Artur Kuzmin. Anastasia Marachkovskaya will be the major hope of the national women’s team.
Attending the competitions in Minsk will be Olympic bronze holder Anton Fokin (Uzbekistan) and bronze winner of the European Championships 2009 Alexander Shatilov (Israel).
The tournament has been organized by the Sports and Tourism Ministry of Belarus, the Belarusian Association of Gymnastics, the National Olympic Committee, the Minsk City Council and the Belsportobespecheniye unitary enterprise.
