National Kupala readings in Grodno on 20-21 April

GRODNO, 19 April (BelTA) – National Kupala readings dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the famous Belarusian poet Yanka Kupala will take place at Yanka Kupala University of Grodno on 20-21 April, representatives of the Mass Communications Center of the university told BelTA.

The event is organized by the Belarusian Literature Department.

The forum will gather scientists from Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Mogilev, Mozyr, Baranovichi, and Grodno. Panel sessions “Yanka Kupala in Belarusian literature and culture: traditions, reception, intertextuality”, “Yanka Kupala and topical linguistics problems”, “Topical literature science problems” will be held. The role of the poet’s art in the national renaissance will be discussed as well as his influence on the modern literature process, world literature. Ways to preserve his legacy, topical problems of Kupala studies in general and higher education will be discussed.

Plenary sessions of the forum will take part in Grodno State University and Aloiza Pashkevich’s (Tetka) Secondary School of Ostrino in the town of Ostrino. A presentation of the book “In Kupala’s and Kolas’ footsteps” by Slonim writer Sergei Chigrin will be held there.

Participants of the conference will visit the grave of Aloiza Pashkevich (Tetka) in the village of Stary Dvor, Shchuchin District. A roundtable session “Yanka Kupala’s legacy and Slavonic literature traditions” will be held.
