Lukashenko, Xi Jinping exchange greetings on 25th anniversary of Belarus-China diplomatic relations

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, President Alexander Lukashenko extended greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the people of China as the two countries celebrate the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.

“Over the past 25 years Belarus and China have made great headway in the development of bilateral cooperation based on the principles of equality and respect to each other. We are proud that Belarus and China enjoy truly allied ties. The two countries have reached an unprecedentedly high level of trust-based comprehensive and strategic partnership and mutual cooperation,” noted the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that the dialogue between Belarus and China would continue developing, gradually including new areas of cooperation.

“We see great prospects in strengthening investment cooperation, intensifying direct ties between regions. Belarus will continue doing its best to contribute to the effective implementation of the One Belt, One Road initiative and the construction of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone, seen as a pivot and a “pearl” of the Silk Road Economic Belt project,” the letter of greetings says.

The President is confident that the anniversary year will go down in history as a year of fruitful bilateral relations, an intensive cultural exchange, new contacts, ideas and areas of cooperation.

Chinese President Xi Jinping also extended greetings to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and China.

The Chinese President noted that the Belarusian and Chinese nations enjoy long-standing friendship. The Chinese-Belarusian relations have been steadily developing, with the level of bilateral cooperation consistently improving.

“The two countries enjoy strong political trust and provide staunch support to each other on matters of mutual interest. With the One Belt, One Road project in progress, the two countries maintain pragmatic and fruitful cooperation in various spheres. The two countries also maintain close contacts and cooperate closely on the international arena,” the Chinese President said.

Xi Jinping believes that the Chinese-Belarusian relations set a model of interstate cooperation and play an important role in contributing to the regional and international stability and peace.
