Lukashenko to attend opening of OSCE PA session in Minsk

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will attend the opening of the 26th session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) which will take place in Minsk on 5-9 July. He will also meet with the high-ranking officials of this organization, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko told reporters after the meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 20 June, BelTA informs.

“The president agreed to attend the opening of the session and meet with President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Christine Muttonen, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

He emphasized that Belarus was chosen as a venue for the session for a reason. The country makes a big contribution to ensuring European security, pursues consistent and predictable domestic and foreign policy.

According to the chairman of the House of Representatives, the preparations for this high-profile event are in full swing, the organizing committee holds regular meetings. “We have already registered 593 participants from 56 states. The biggest delegation comprising 49 people will arrive from the United States of America. There will be 20 representatives from Germany, 24 representatives from Italy, 24 people from the Russian Federation,” Vladimir Andreichenko said. “We expect that 6-7 more countries will register soon.”

Apart from official events, there will be a versatile cultural program for the participants of the OSCE PA session. The delegates will visit landmark events of Belarus, its castles and other famous places.
